Analysis of the USA doctoral education experience is held in the article, doctorate models
are determined; quantitative indexes of doctoral candidates and national programs functioning
are enlightened; phased doctorate system (training courses and research work) is described;
peculiarities of postdoctoral education are revealed; doctoral education problems and ways of
solving them are cleared up.
